The Taoiseach has told the Mahon Tribunal that he has no recollection of driving his former partner to the AIB on O'Connell Street to collect £50,000 in cash.
Celia Larkin gave evidence that she recalled Bertie Ahern driving her to the bank in January 1995.
Mr Ahern told the tribunal that in that month, he was a driver; he had lost his Government driver after going into Opposition the previous December.
But he said that while he recalled been given the £50,000 by Ms Larkin, he has no recollection of driving her to the bank or of where she gave him the money.
This evening Mr Ahern agreed that a mathematical formula put forward by his legal team to demonstrate that the £30,000 lodgement was in sterling and not dollars has now been shown to be wrong.
Mr Ahern told the tribunal that he is still trying to establish where and how he purchased the funds, but he said it was likely he would have asked someone to do it for him.
Outside Dublin Castle Mr Ahern said he did not think that anybody believes that the businessman Owen O'Callaghan gave him any money.
Mr Ahern also said he was happy with his performance at the inquiry. He has now concluded his evidence before the Tribunal.
