Three British soldiers have been killed in southern Afghanistan by a US bomb dropped from an aircraft supporting them in a battle against the Taliban.
Two other soldiers were injured in the incident.
The incident, which happened yesterday, takes the number of British military deaths in Afghanistan since the Taliban was toppled in 2001 to 73.
The soldiers were on a mission to disrupt militant activity north west of Kajaki, in Helmand province.
An investigation into the incident has begun.
