A post mortem is being carried out on the body of a man who was found in Ballinlough, Co Roscommon earlier today.
The body of the 47-year-old man was found in the front garden of a house in the village at 9am.
Gardai say they are treating his death as suspicious.
The dead man's name has not yet been released but it is believed that he had been living in the area with his elderly parents for the past six years.
For operational reasons gardaí say they are unwilling to give any details of the injuries he sustained.
Dr Marie Casssidy, the State Pathologist, carried out a preliminary examination at the scene this afternoon.
The body was then removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe for a full post mortem.
A man who was arrested for questioning is being detained at Roscommon Garda Station and can be held until 11am tomorrow before being charged or released.
