Heathrow - Protest continuing

Climate change protestors continued to blockade the headquarters of the British Airport Authority at Heathrow Airport today.

The action is part of a protest by members of the anti-aviation Camp for Climate Action..

Flights were not affected.

Around 100 environmental activists spent the night at the gates of the BAA at Heathrow.

The campaigners were surrounded by hundreds of riot police but no major incidents were reported.

It is believed BAA staff were told not to show up for work this morning to avoid confrontations.

Last night there were scuffles between protestors and riot police after they blockaded the British Airways world cargo centre.

A total of 58 people have been arrested since the camp was first set up a week ago.

Yesterday's day of action was largely peaceful but there were minor clashes between some demonstrators and riot police.
