A bomb threat which delayed an Aer Lingus flight from Malaga to Dublin has been declared a hoax.

After conducting a search of the plane, Spanish authorities dismissed the threat against the EI 585 flight to Dublin.

Enda Corneille, the airline's commercial director, said police in Malaga were alerted at around 12.30pm and boarded the plane, shortly before the plane was due to depart.

Officers boarded the Airbus A330 and all 303 passengers and 10 crew were taken off while a search was carried out in a secure area of the airport.

The passengers have since reboarded the aircraft and the flight took off from Malaga at 3pm.
