Climate change protestors at Heathrow Airport in London have denied that any airline passengers will be in danger due to their demonstration.
Despite promises of 'direct action' the campaigners have dismissed media reports that they planned to issue bomb hoaxes.
The protest at the world's busiest international air hub comes at the height of the holiday season, weeks after the failed attack at Glasgow airport and a year after police thwarted what they said was a plan to bomb airliners flying out of Heathrow to the US.
The campaigners plan a week of activities in a bid to force the British government to halt the expansion of the airport, which they say will exacerbate global warming.
A mass picnic in the town of Sipson is planned, a town set for destruction if the runway is built, and campaigners plan to target the offices of airport operator BAA.
Scientists say air transport contributes heavily to global warming, noting that the carbon dioxide and water vapour emitted at altitude are four times more potent than at sea level.
Up to 1,500 campaigners are expected to join the climate change protest camp over the week.
