Minister of State for Integration Conor Lenihan has said that the civil service should introduce a recruitment policy for foreign nationals.

Mr Lenihan said the policy should be similar to that introduced for gardaí.

The Minister made the comments while announcing the setting up of a task force to look at the challenges facing foreign nationals integrating into society.

Mr Lenihan said that up to 12 people would be appointed to the working group which would identify new issues facing communities.

He said the committee should be up and running at the beginning of next year and it would issue recommendations within a year.
