Gardaí are satisfied a note found on a Futura flight from Faro to Cork this evening may have been on the flight for some time.

They do not believe any device is on board. However, the plane is being searched as a precaution. It is understood the note contained threats.

An army bomb disposal team had been put on standby at Collins Barracks in Cork following the plane's arrival.

The flight with over 120 people on board flew to Cork from Faro in Portugal.

A spokeswoman for Cork Airport Authority said all passengers have disembarked.

Emergency services are at the scene and are investigating the alert but the airport is operating normally.
