The search for missing US climber Michael Reardon resumed off the southwest coast of Ireland today.

Mr Reardon was washed out to sea from Valentia Island on Friday evening.

Naval divers, the gardaí and the members of the Kerry Sub Aqua Club carried out cliff and coastal searches.

The Knightstown Coastguard unit was also due to carry out a low water search.

The 36-year-old was hit by a rogue wave on the northern side of the island three days ago.

Michael's wife, Marcie, and 13-year-old daughter, Nicky, have arrived in Ireland and will attend a memorial service for him tomorrow afternoon.
