The annual rate of inflation fell back to 4.9% in June from 5% in May, according to the Central Statistics Office.
Prices rose by 0.2% compared with May, but this was a smaller fall than in the earlier months of the year.
Clothing and footwear prices fell by 1.7% in the month, but higher air fares and petrol prices pushed transport prices up 0.8%.
Restaurant and hotels prices were also higher, while higher mortgage repayments continued to push prices up in the housing category.
