17 people, 12 of them children, have been killed and 30 others wounded in a suicide bombing in southern Afghanistan.
The attack, which was aimed at NATO forces, happened in a bazaar in the Deh Rawud district of Uruzgan, 400km southwest of the Afghan capital Kabul.
All of those killed were civilians.
Soldiers with the International Security Assistance Force were also wounded in the attack. The nationalities of the NATO casualties were not released, however most of the troops in Uruzgan are Australian or Dutch.
The NATO-led force in Kabul confirmed that the bomber was on foot and blew himself up as a convoy of ISAF troops passed.
A spokesperson for the Taliban, which is waging an insurgency against the Afghan government, claimed responsibility for the blast.
