An English couple who were subjected to a vicious hatchet and machete attack while sleeping in their camper van in Co Louth have said they feel lucky to be alive.
Jock and Kath Fordyce, who are both in their 60s, were attacked on the first night of their holiday here earlier this month.
Two men have since appeared in court, charged in connection with the attack.
Mrs Fordyce, who suffered a fractured skull and broken ribs in the attack, said when the door was broken in she did not think she would see her children again.
Despite her ordeal, she said she would like to return to Ireland to thank those who helped them.
