A 27-year-old man has been remanded in custody in connection with last week's attempted bombings in Britain.

Bilal Abdullah, an Itaqi  doctor based at a hospital in Scotland, was one of the men arrested after a flaming Jeep was driven into the doors of the arrivals hall of Glasgow Airport last Saturday. He is the first person to be charged in connection with the attacks.

The City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in central London remanded him into custody until 27 July on charges of  conspiring to cause explosions.

Another man involved in the Glasgow incident is still in a critical condition in hospital after suffering 90% burns to his body.

Police are holding six other people in the UK and one in Australia as part of the inquiry into the attacks.

Mr Abdullah's court appearance coincides with the second  anniversary of the 7 July attacks on London's public transport system that killed 52 commuters.
