Leix Road - Victim was shot in the abdomen

Gardaí have found a burned out car which they believe was used in this morning's gun attack on a young man in north Dublin.

The victim is in a critical condition in hospital.

The incident happened when the 24-year-old was walking on the Leix Road in Cabra at approximately 12:30am. A car pulled up alongside him and several shots were fired, hitting the victim in the abdomen.

He made his own way to the Mater Hospital where his condition is described as 'critical'.

Gardaí believe the car used in the attack was the one found burned out in Finglas earlier this morning.

The attack is the second such incident this week; another man from Crumlin was shot twice in the south Dublin suburb of Stillorgan.
