As expected, the European Central Bank has held its main interest rate unchanged at 4%, following its regular meeting in Frankfurt.
Rates in the eurozone have doubled in the past 18 months as the ECB sought to keep inflation in check while economic growth increases.
Speaking earlier today, European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet signalled a further rise in rates later in the year.
The bank has raised rates eight times in the past 18 months, each time by a quarter of a percentage point.
