Athlone town has elected its first ever Sinn Féin Mayor.
Councillor Paul Hogan, 24, was elected by a majority of five votes to four last night.
As well as being the first Sinn Féin Mayor Councillor, he is also the youngest ever chairperson of Athlone Town Council.
