The Director of Public Prosecutions does not intend taking further prosecutions in relation to the death of Brian Murphy outside the Club Anabel nightclub in Dublin August 2000.

Dublin City Coroner Dr Brian Farrell said that the DPP had come to the decision after detailed consideration of a number of documents, including reports by the former State Pathologist Dr John Harbison and current State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.

The Coroner's Court is set to resume the inquest into Brian Murphy's death on 18 September.

Denis Murphy, Brian's father, said the family was very disappointed, but not surprised at the decision.

Mr Murphy said that the family was made aware of the DPP's decision in May. He added that he was of the view that the will to secure further prosecutions 'was not there'.
