A Co Wicklow man, who was extradited from England yesterday, has appeared at the Special Criminal Court on explosives and ammunition charges.

Colin John Conlon, 38, with an address at Burgage Industrial Estate in Blessington, Co Wicklow, was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant and extradited from London yesterday.

He had failed to turn up for his trial in July last year when he faced charges of the unlawful possession of an improvised explosive device at the M1 motorway at Cloghran, Co Dublin on 25 November, 2005 and the unlawful possession of 104 rounds of assorted ammunition on the same date.

The Court remanded Conlon in custody until next month when the case will be mentioned again.
