Fewer Irish women going to UK for abortion

The number of women giving Irish addresses at abortion clinics in the UK has fallen for the sixth year in a row.

Figures from the British Department of Health show 5,042 women travelled to the UK for the procedure last year, down 1,600 cases on 2001.

The Crisis Pregnancy Agency has said it is now investigating whether women are travelling to countries other than the UK for abortion procedures.
