Animal welfare officers have seized nine pitbull terriers, involved in illegal dog fighting, during a raid in the Katesbridge area of Co Down.
In a joint operation with the PSNI and Banbridge District Council, the Ulster Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals also found a dog-fighting ring, training equipment and a supply of steroids which are used to heighten aggression in animals.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the individual who owns the premises where the pitbulls were found.
The fighting ring has been demolished and the matter is now the subject of court proceedings.
