At least 38 people have been killed in two bomb attacks in Iraq.
In the deadliest attack, at least 23 people were killed and 68 wounded when a bomb planted in a parked minibus exploded in a busy commercial area.
Police said at least 15 people were killed and 36 wounded in another car bomb attack in southwest Baghdad.
Elsewhere in Iraq, 10 US soldiers have been killed in the past 24 hours.
The deaths bring the total number of US soldiers killed this month to 114, making May the deadliest month for US forces since November 2004, when 137 soldiers were killed.
In another development, five British citizens have been kidnapped from a finance ministry building in the capital.
The British Foreign Office confirmed that it was in urgent contact with Iraqi authorities.
It is understood the gunmen were 'wearing police uniforms'.
Police have been implicated in several high-profile mass abductions, and it has long been suspected that illegal militias have infiltrated Iraqi police units.
