Car sales were up again last month, with official figures showing that more than 21,400 new cars were licensed in April.
That is an increase of just over 4% on this time last year.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office indicate that new cars are turning into the big ticket item of choice for consumers so far this year.
Last month some €7.5bn of special savings account money poured into the economy and it looks like car dealers are getting a sizeable chunk.
So far this year, new car sales are up 7% on last year and have already topped the 100,000 mark.
Toyota is the most popular brand, well ahead of Volkswagen and Opel, with Ford trailing fourth.
Just under 9% of cars sold in April had engine sizes of two litres and over with Land Rover and Mercedes Benz slugging it out for most popular make.
Of new cars licensed last month, 97 of them operated on a combination of electricity and petrol while 86 used a combination of petrol and ethanol.
