Gardaí in Portlaoise are investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a 58-year-old man.
Thomas Thompson, who is thought to be from England, has been missing from his home at Borris Road, Portlaoise, since last weekend.
A blue Renault van belonging to Mr Thompson, registration number 06-LS-2453, is also missing from his home.
Gardaí have sealed off the man's home and crime scene investigators are carrying out an examination of the property.
Gardaí went to Mr Thompson's house after his family raised concerns.
The case is currently being treated as a missing person investigation, but further inquiries are taking place.
