Up to 200 people were evacuated from an apartment block in Kilkenny city during the night after a small fire ruptured a nearby gas main.
The blaze was started in a rubbish bin at the entrance to Ferran Court apartments on Abbey Street at around 3am this morning.
The evacuation was precautionary and the residents have returned to their homes.
