Two men have been killed in separate crashes in counties Kilkenny and Monaghan.
Gardaí in Co Kilkenny are investigating a single-vehicle crash this evening in which a man in his 70s was fatally injured.
He died after the car he was driving alone collided with a pole on the N9 at Mullinavat at 5.30pm this evening. His body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.
Earlier, a pedestrian, who was in his 30s, was hit by a truck on the N2, approximately 3km north of Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.
The incident occurred at 8am this morning. The man's name has not yet been released.
