A British envoy has held talks with the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyeh, on efforts to secure the release of a BBC journalist kidnapped over three weeks ago.
British diplomats said today's meeting only concerned the kidnapping and did not represent a policy shift from the EU's boycott of Hamas.
BBC correspondent Alan Johnston was taken on 12 March. He has been held captive longer than other journalists seized in Gaza.
There has been no public word on his fate despite Palestinian government pledges to find him.
