Gardaí to enforce M50 speed limit

The National Roads Authority has confirmed that gardaí will be operating speed cameras to enforce a 60km speed limit on the M50.

The limit will apply to the section from Westlink to Tallaght, which is subject to road works.

The NRA says it is necessary to enforce the limit 24 hours a day to ensure safety of those involved in the construction.

A spokesperson for the RSA said despite the reduction in the speed limit from 120kph to 60kph people are still speeding in the area.

He said the cameras will remain in place for the duration of the roadworks.

Signs had advised motorist the two cameras would be operational from today but it is now believed they will be up and running by the end of the week.
