Nearly 130 people have been killed in a further violence across Iraq.
In the capital Baghdad, two suicide bomb blasts left at least 76 people dead.
The blasts in the mainly Shia al-Shaab market left over 100 people wounded.
The market, in a northeastern district of the city, has repeatedly been targeted by militants.
The attacks were carried out shortly after the deaths of 53 Iraqis in co-ordinated bombings Shia dominated town of Khalis. Four car bombings in the town struck a market, a courthouse, an ambulance and a new Iraqi army base.
At least nine mortar attacks were also reported in residential areas while two roadside bombs exploded in a main street near the market, ripping through security and rescue workers who had rushed to the scene of the initial attack.
Khalis lies in Diyala province, north of Baghdad, and has seen some of the worst violence outside of the capital.
The killings came on top of the deaths of another 18 people in various attacks concentrated around Baghdad.
Over 300 people have been killed in continuing sectarian violence in Iraq during the past 48-hours.
