A RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta opinion poll has predicted that a Green Party TD will be elected in the five-seat Galway West constituency in the forthcoming General Election.
Éamon Ó Cuív (27%), Frank Fahey (13%), both of Fianna Fáil, are certain to take seats.
Labour's Michael D Higgins (11%) and the Green Party's Niall Ó Brolcháin (11%), with similar levels of support, are in line to take third and fourth seats.
The TNS/mrbi poll has predicted an extremely close contest for the fifth seat in the region, with Michael Crowe (FF) challenging incumbent TDs Pádraig McCormack (FG) and Noel Grealish (PD) for the final seat.
The single issue of greatest importance to the electorate of Galway West is that of healthcare/hospitals (42%).
Crime/law and order (26%) is regarded as the second most important issue in the constituency, followed by roads (25%).
