The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has said that Iran's detention of 15 Royal Navy personnel was unjustified and wrong and he called for their immediate release.
It was Mr Blair's first comment on the affair since the personnel were seized in the Persian Gulf on Friday.
Britain is still waiting to be granted access to the personnel who were seized on Friday.
Iran has said they were trespassing in its waters.
Speaking at an EU summit, Mr Blair said this was not true and said there was no doubt they were in Iraqi waters.
