A pedestrian was killed following being struck by a car in west Dublin this morning.
The man in his 20s was removed to the Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead around 7.30am.
The incident happened on the Main Street in Lucan at around 5am.
Gardaí in Lucan are investigating the cause of the accident.
The scene has been sealed pending a technical examination.
The vehicle has also been seized for technical examination.
The centre of Lucan village was closed to traffic for some time this morning.
The State Pathologist was to conduct a post mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
