The three passengers on the Continental Airlines flight who complained of illness have been discharged from Beaumont Hospital following treatment.

A Continental Airlines airliner had been quarantined at Dublin Airport following complaints of illness by a number of passengers.

The aircraft, which arrived this morning on a scheduled flight from Newark in New Jersey, was directed to a stand at the airport.

Dublin Airport says it is understood that up to twenty five passengers were at a meal in New York last night, and that those who complained of feeling unwell had eaten chicken.

The 25 passengers are students from the University of Philadelphia. They were due to visit Co. Down.

Three people were taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment for food poisoning.

Three other people who also complained of feeling unwell were allowed to disembark from the airliner after receiving medical attention.

All other passengers have been allowed disembark from the aircraft without restrictions.
