The Independent TD for Cavan/Monaghan, Paudge Connolly, has confirmed that he will be contesting the General Election as an Independent.
Deputy Connolly has claimed that he was recently approached by a senior Government minister with a view to him standing for Fianna Fáil.
But, he said, he had met with no satisfactory response from the Government in relation to his demands for improvements to services at Monaghan General Hospital, and so would fight the election as an Independent.
