The Labour Court has intervened in the dispute at Aer Lingus which has threatened to disrupt flights later this week.

Both sides have accepted an invitation to attend exploratory talks at the Labour Court tomorrow in an effort to resolve the row.

However, workers at Aer Lingus have said they will stage a 24 hour strike from midnight next Sunday if management goes ahead with plans to reduce terms and conditions for existing staff later this week.

The move will be followed by a ban on overtime and a work to rule.

The union's disputes committee announced the decision this evening but said it will still enter the talks at the Labour Court tomorrow.

Workers have also agreed to cooperate with the training of new recruits from Wednesday
