The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has said he is confident that a study being carried out into the feasibility of a Outer Orbital Route for Dublin would have a positive outcome.
Mr Ahern said he understood that the study, which is being carried out by the National Roads Authority, is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.
He said he would like the NRA to conclude its examination soon so that the Government could proceed towards what he described as a 'vital piece of national infrastructure'.
The Taoiseach said that the ability of towns around the Greater Dublin Area to grow, prosper and sustain strong communities would be constrained without an Outer Orbital Route.
