Sale of fake drugs on internet growing

A national conference on tackling counterfeit medicines has heard that the sale of fake drugs over the internet is a growing health problem.

David Shore, head of Global Security for the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, said medicines were high value, small in size and the profits available from counterfeit medicines are potentially greater than those in the illegal drugs market.

The conference, organised by the Irish Patients' Association, was held in Dublin.
