Aer Lingus is to reduce fuel surcharges on long haul flights by 25% from midnight tonight.
It comes as a result of falling international oil prices. The reduction amounts to €10 each way on routes to the US and Middle East, and applies only to new bookings.
The surcharge, which was introduced last May, was €40 for each leg of a return flight to the US, adding €80 to the cost of a round trip.
A similar charge applied to the airline's new route to Dubai and the additional cost to Los Angeles was €45 each way.
Dermot Mannion, Aer Lingus Chief Executive, said that when the fuel surcharge was first introduced last May, the airline assured customers it would be kept under active review.
The airline says it will continue to monitor the cost of fuel prices and will revise its surcharge should the cost of fuel decrease further.
