The production team and cast of the television drama, Stardust, have called for a fresh public inquiry into the 1981 fire.

48 people died in a fire at the Stardust disco in north Dublin 26 years ago.

The independently-produced drama won four of the five categories in which it was nominated at the Irish Film and Television Awards, which were held at the RDS in Dublin last night.

The producer of the drama, Norman Siderow, said it was important that people knew of the suffering experienced by those affected by the Stardust fire.
