A total ban on visitors has been reintroduced at Cork University Hospital due to the winter vomiting bug, while a ban also remains in place on two wards at St Finbarr's Hospital.
The only exception at the 600 bed hospital is for relatives of critically-ill patients who are asked to make contact with the hospital in advance of their visit.
Otherwise no other visitors are allowed.
The radiotherapy and chemotherapy day units as well as the out-patients' department at CUH remain open.
It is understood authorities will be reviewing the ban on St Oliver's Hospital tomorrow and St Clare's Hospital on Thursday.
