A poll in today's Irish Times from TNS-MRBI shows support for the current coalition at 32%, three points clear of Fine Gael, Labour and the Green Party.
Only 13% of those polled favoured a link between Fianna Fáil and the Labour Party.
And in the event of a hung Dáil, the poll shows respondents rejecting a coalition involving Bertie Ahern and Pat Rabbitte, 32% in favour with 41% against.
But most felt that if there was a hung Dáil, Pat Rabbitte would enter government with Fianna Fáil.
55% of Labour supporters, a higher proportion than among those supporting any other party, took that view.
