The number of cars and other vehicles on Irish roads has nearly doubled in the past decade.
According to new Government figures, there are now nearly 2.3m vehicles on the road - an increase of over 1m since the mid-1990s.
Meanwhile, motor industry figures show that January was the busiest month ever for new car sales.
According to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, over 46,000 new cars were sold last month.
