An opinion poll published today indicates that there is overwhelming support for Sinn Féin agreeing to support policing.
The Red C poll in the Sunday Business Post suggests that 79% of voters approve of the party endorsing the PSNI.
56% of those questioned said they would be more likely to vote for the party if it did so.
The survey also showed Fianna Fáil up three points to 42%.
Fine Gael, by contrast, is down two points to 21%.
Labour at 12 is unchanged, as are the Greens at 7%.
Sinn Féin is down one to 7%, the PDs are down one to three, while Independents and others are up one to eight.
This means that Fianna Fáil and the PDs, on 45% support, are 12 points clear of Fine Gael and Labour, the widest margin they have enjoyed in this year long series.
