The Taoiseach has dismissed calls for the resignation of the Minister for Labour Affairs, Tony Killeen, over the row about representations for the early release of a convicted murderer.
Bertie Ahern said Mr Killeen had apologised and would be contacting the families involved directly to explain what happened.
He said Mr Killeen had been extremely upset that the families had felt let down.
