US President George W Bush has given orders to confront those who target Iraqis or US forces in Iraq, as US and Iraqi officials confirmed tough new tactics targeting Iranian agents there.
'If somebody's trying to harm our troops, or stop us from achieving our goal, or killing innocent citizens in Iraq, we will stop them,' Mr Bush said.
He was meeting the new commander of US forces in Iraq, Army Lieutenant General David Petraeus.
Gen Petraeus was confirmed by the US Senate earlier to take command of the Iraq war.
In a reference to opposition in the US Congress to his new Iraq strategy, Mr Bush said those opposed should offer their own plan.

Mr Maliki assured Ms Pelosi of Iraq's intention to assume security missions currently handled by US-led forces in Iraq.

She said she did not oppose efforts by the administration to accelerate the transfer of all responsibilities.
