Liam Lawlor - Order against family home

The High Court has adjourned an application by the Mahon Tribunal to sell the late Liam Lawlor's home to pay legal bills of over €500,000.

The money is owed by Mr Lawlor's estate following unsuccessful legal challenges against the planning inquiry.

The order against the Lawlor family home at Somerton in Co Dublin was obtained by solicitor Dermot Coyne.

He had represented the former TD in his battles with the Mahon Tribunal. But now that Mr Coyne has been paid his bill of over €260,000, the Lawlor family want this order lifted.

This is being opposed by both the Mahon Tribunal and the construction company, Menolly Homes, who are owed over €150,000.

Today Mr Justice John McMenamin adjourned the case to 13 February for mention.

Ownership of Mr Lawlor's home was transferred to his wife, Hazel, before his death and she is taking a separate legal challenge against the tribunal, claiming it is unfair.
