The Iraqi government says 50 militants were killed in clashes between gunmen and US and Iraqi forces in central Baghdad.
An official said the fighting took place in Haifa Street, a Sunni Arab insurgent stronghold, where violence has claimed the lives of 100 people since Saturday.
At least 30 people - mainly construction workers - have been killed in a plane crash near the Iraqi cith of Balad, around 80 kilometers north of Baghdad.
Turkish officials said the chartered plane was en route from the Turkish city of Adana to Balad, when it crashed while trying to land in foggy conditions.
Balad is the main US military logistics hub in Iraq.
Iraq's Transport Ministry Spokesman, Ahmed al-Mussawi, said an investigation had been launched into what caused the crash.
Earlier, Turkish officials said that 30 passengers and five crew were on board the Antonov 26 aircraft.
