Pig samples from an abattoir in Co Antrim have tested negative for foot-and-mouth disease.
Northern Ireland's Chief Veterinary Officer, Bert Houston, said the samples were tested as a precautionary measure after foot lesions were detected on the pigs yesterday.
Mr Houston said samples were sent for testing at the Institute for Animal Health in England.
Movement restrictions and other conditions were imposed at the abattoir and the premises of origin.
Foot-and-mouth disease was last detected in Ireland and Britain in 2001.
