Gardaí in Co Kerry have released the driver of a car involved in a road crash in which a 30-year-old man was killed last night.
The 45-year-old man was arrested earlier today and questioned in connection with the crash.
A file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Meanwhile, a senior garda has been appointed to carry out an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash.
In the accident, a man who was a front seat passenger in the car died when it went out of control and crashed on a sharp bend at Kilgarvan on the main Kenmare to Killarney Road.
He has been named as Martin Mc Donagh of Mussander Road in Coleraine, Co Derry.
Gardaí said that officers had been attempting to stop the vehicle, which was registered in Northern Ireland.
A woman who was seriously injured in the crash is said to be stable in Cork University Hospital.
