Kofi Annan has delivered his final speech as Secretary General of the United Nations.
In his speech, Mr Annan urged America to show leadership by working with other nations rather than on its own.
He said that human rights and the rule of law are the key to global security and prosperity and that the US administration must remain true to its principles
He called on all nations to show global solidarity.
He will be succedded by South Korea's Ban Ki-moon in the new year.
