The latest figures from the gardaí show there has been a massive increase in the number of motorists being caught for drink-driving since the introduction of random breath testing in July.

Detection rates are up almost 60% on the same period last year.

The gardaí also say the introduction of the Mandatory Alcohol Test has contributed to a reduction in deaths on our roads in the latter part of the year.
